One day at the time

Day 4, week 1

I got really tired of counting my progress days on the heading (yeah, already!) so, I'm switching it up a bit...:D

Today was a little challenging but I surpassed all obstacles. Just got back from a birthday party (for little kids) but more on that later. Here is today on a nutshell--->

Woke up at 9:30 am, late for a meeting (I wonder why my life is so hectic...maybe I sleep too much?) Anyways, I had a cup of raisin bran cereal with 1% skim milk while I got ready to head out the door:

After my meeting, I ate an apple that I had brought with me. I then dropped by the supermarket where I discovered what might become my new favorite kind of bread other than whole wheat:

**Only 80 calories!!! 5 grams of protein & 4 grams of fiber per slice---I was sold on the calories (most whole wheat bread I find are usually 100 and up). Ah! and no HFCS.

The bread discovery triggered fantasies of a nice lunch which I materialized as soon as I got home:

This is lean turkey and skim mozarealla cheese on the yummy bread. I also added some organic tortilla chips.

...So my whole day went pretty well but the challenging part came in the evening. My cousin threw a birthday party for his daughter whom turned 1 today (Happy Birthday G!!)
..... and usually birthday parties (at least in my family) mean greasy foods and sugary treats. However, I stood clear from both not because I couldnt have them in moderation (I dont like to feel like im depriving myself) but because I didnt want to. I ate a moderate portion of what seemed to be the "healthiest" choice in the birthday party "menu". I did remove a whole lot of the lunch meat from the sandwich and threw it away (what you can see right next to it on the plate). It was just unecessary to have so much meat in there.

To my salvation my cousin's wife actually served up a fruit platter which was GREAT because I was able to kill any sugar cravings and I was able to stay away from this:

And this was my day in a nutshell!! :) thanks for reading.
