The Sunday Pattern that must be broken ;)

So, I managed not to give in to my sweet tooth Sunday cravings most of the day which is quite an accomplishment. I had a healthy dinner:

-Garden salad w/ homemade dressing
-Grilled pork chops (in moderation)
-1 piece of baked sweet potatoe
-To help da’ sweet tooth: 2 small squares of 80% cocoa dark chocolate

----
About an hour after dinner, however, my snack attack showed up while I was watching TV (I disciplined myself to watch only one show on TV this Sunday as I was studying for my exam). Anyways, I could not resist eating a few mini dove chocolates, some sweet raisin bread my sister brought from her job and a few chips ahoy chocolate chip cookies.

Tragic, I know! But we all fall off the healthy wagon from time to time. The key is to “get up, dust yourself up & continue the health path”. No point in beating ourselves up for it.

A pattern I’ve realized in the past couple of years is that sitting down on my couch on a weekend just watching TV and with nothing to do; is usually a trigger for me to overindulge. If I add stress to the mix it can be quite a disaster.

This can be changed by me just finding something fun and entertaining to do on weekends that would stop my mind for wondering in to the “world of sugar”. In regards to the stress; doing something about whatever is bothering me also does wonders! (ie: I finally ‘attacked’ my grad stats homework and by the grace of good I understood what I was doing. This lifted a big weight off my shoulders!).

It’s a great idea to identify patterns as that’s the first step to recognizing an issue and doing something about it.

Do you have any patterns in your life that trigger you to overindulge?

With Love,
-Belle
